米MathWorks社が開発したMATLABは適用分野を選ばない計算の統合環境として傑出した普及率を誇っています。信号処理や制御工学への適用例ばかりが目立っていましたが、最近では機械学習への適用例も出てきています。日本法人が立ち上がり、サポートも充実しています。基本的にはデータ・信号の解析やモデリング、シミュレーション、可視化機能を備えた対話型のプログラミング環境です。解析に必要な機能をライブラリ化して持ち、面倒なプログラミングを必要とせずに、独自のアプリケーションを迅速に作成できます。また、サードパーティーから販売されるライブラリやアプリケーションが豊富にあり、まさに最強のワークベンチと言えます。
